Market focus this Morning...
-Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s ruling coalition retained its two-thirds parliamentary majority in Sunday’s general election, unofficial results showed, bolstering his chances at becoming Japan’s longest-serving leader.
-Dow surges 165 points to record close on tax reform hopes, stunning GE comeback The Senate approved a $4 trillion budget measure Thursday by a 51-49 vote.
-U.S. government debt yieldsrose Friday, as investors switched focus to news and remarks coming out of the U.S. Federal Reserve, including a speech by the Fed Chair. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note sat higher at around 2.374 percent.
-The Spanish government on Sunday urged Catalans to accept direct control from Madrid and ignore instructions from the restive region’s secessionist leadership once it has been removed from power.
-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Saudi Arabia’s leaders rebuffed his request in meetings Sunday to end the four-month isolation of Qatar.
-German Chancellor Merkel said she hopes to begin the second phase of Brexit negotiations in December but it does depend on UK movement on financial settlement.
