Market focus this Morning...
-Dow touches 23,000 for the first time, closes at record. Boeing and Caterpillar were the biggest points contributors on the Dow since Aug. 2, when the index first broke above 22,000.
-China’s holdings of U.S. bonds, notes and bills advanced for the seventh straight month to $1.2 trillion, an increase of $34.5 billion from a month earlier, according to Treasury Department data released Tuesday in Washington. That’s the highest level since July 2016.
-A US federal judge in Hawaii blocked President Trump's latest bid to impose restrictions on citizens from eight countries entering the United States, which had been set to take effect this week.
-US President Trump signalled support for a bipartisan healthcare deal in the US Senate, saying it was a short-term fix to get through a very dangerous little period but not the ultimate answer to healthcare needs.
-White House official said US President Trump has narrowed his choice for Fed Chair down to five and will likely announce his decision before travelling to Asia in early November. Candidates include current Chair Yellen, Gary Cohn, Kevin Warsh, Jeorme Powell and John Taylor.
-Fed Discount Rate minutes showed 11 of the 12 regional Fed banks voted to leave the discount rate unchanged ahead of the September meeting.
-Spanish constitutional court has declared the independence referendum held in September by the Catalan government was void.
-US Industrial Production M/M (Sep) +0.3% versus +0.2% expected, Manufacturing Production M/M +0.1% versus +0.1% expected, Capacity Utilization 76.0% versus 76.2% expected.
