Market focus this Morning...
-The Dow Jones industrial average gained 85.24 points to close at 22,956.96. JPMorgan Chase shares rose 2 percent to lead the 30 stock index. The S&P 500 finished 0.2 percent higher at 2,557.64, with telecommunications and financials leading advancers. Losses in real estate and health care capped gains on the S&P 500.
-Stanford University economist John Taylor, a candidate for Federal Reserve chairman, made a favorable impression on President Donald Trump after an hour-long interview at the White House last week, several people familiar with the matter said.
-Netflix adds 5.3 million subscribers during Q3, beating analyst estimates Revenue: $2.98 billion vs. $2.97 billion expected.EPS: 37 cents per share vs. 32 cents per share, adjusted.
-US President Trump said he is looking to reduce government spending heading into the next budget and will look very strongly at welfare reform. He also said that they feel they’re close to having all votes on healthcare, and predicts a vote early next year.
-UK PM May and the president of the EU Commission Juncker said Brexit negotiations should accelerate over the months to come after informal discussions in a friendly atmosphere.
-According to a draft paper, Germany is working on proposals for the European Union’s future relations with the UK that include calls for a comprehensive free-trade accord with the British government.
-A North Korean official reaffirmed Pyongyang's commitment to developing a long-range intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching all the way to the East coast of the mainland US, and rejected diplomacy with Washington until it achieves that goal.
-Treasuries extended overnight losses, led by belly of the curve, pushing 5s30s through 87bp level; morning weakness was added to over afternoon session as report suggested that Fed chair candidate John Taylor made a favorable impression on Trump.
